HEOA -- Graduation/Retention Rates by Federal Aid Group

In accordance with the Higher Education Opportunity Act, created in 2008, the University of Minnesota is providing graduation rates by certain federal aid group categories:

  • Pell Grant Recipients
  • Recipients of a FFEL or DL other than an unsub. FFEL or DL Stafford Loan
  • Recipients of neither a Pell Grant nor an FFEL or DL other than an Unsub. FFEL or DL Stafford Loan

All graduation rates are based upon 6 years of attendance which equates to 150% of the normal completion time of our longest program (except for the Crookston campus numbers which also include associate degrees received within three years). The reports show the Fall 2016 cohort.

Since each University of Minnesota campus is treated as a separate institution, students who begin as freshmen at one campus and receive a degree from another campus are not counted as graduates. Because of this, graduation rates for the coordinate campuses (Duluth, Morris, Crookston, Rochester) may appear artificially low in comparison with system-wide graduation reports.
