Student Right to Know Data

In accordance with the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, the University of Minnesota publishes information on the graduation rates of full-time, first-time, degree- or certificate-seeking undergraduate and student athletes that have received athletic financial aid every July. Information for the 2016 cohort is available below.

While reviewing this information, please keep the following in mind:

  • All graduation rates are based upon 6 years of attendance which equates to 150% of the normal completion time of our longest program.
  • Since each University of Minnesota campus is treated as a separate institution, students who begin as freshmen at one campus and receive a degree from another campus are not counted as graduates. Because of this, graduation rates for the system campuses (Duluth, Morris, Crookston, Rochester) may appear artificially low in comparison with system-wide graduation reports.
  • We have elected not to report transfer-out rates because our university's mission does not include providing substantial preparation for students to enroll in another eligible institution without completing or graduation.
  • These charts do not identify reasons why our students withdrew; therefore, students who withdrew for personal or medical reasons are included.
  • Graduation rates do not include students who left school to serve in the armed forces or on official church missions or with a foreign aid service of the federal government, or students who died or were totally and permanently disabled.
